Smoke Free UK by 2030
The UK Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) published a green paper in July 2019 with its plan for a cigarette-free England by 2030.
With over 9 million people in the UK currently smoking tobacco products, the green paper is an ambitious concept, however at PodVapes™ we believe it would make a huge difference to the health and welfare of everyone in the UK.
Here’s a brief extract summarising the paper:
“We are setting an ambition to go 'smoke-free' in England by 2030. This includes an ultimatum for industry to make smoked tobacco obsolete by 2030, with smokers quitting or moving to reduced risk products like e-cigarettes.
The government is committed to monitoring the safety, uptake, impact and effectiveness of e-cigarettes and to assess further innovative ways to deliver nicotine with less harm than smoking tobacco. There is a large amount of research now available to support e-cigarette use as a safer alternative to smoking and help people quit smoking, and we continue to monitor the evidence.”
